The invention particularly relates to a so-called continuous or instrumented indentation device for a material (2), which includes: an indenter (10); a bearing means (40; 6) for the material (2) to be indented; a means for moving the indenter (10) and/or the bearing means (40; 6) for contacting said indenter (10) with said material (2) and for pressing the indenter into the material; a means (5) for measuring the force and the movement of the indenter (10) when the same is pressed into the material (2). The device is particularly characterised in that: the bearing means (40; 6) includes, as an extension of the longitudinal axis (X-X) of said indenter (10), a convex surface (6) for receiving said material (2) and oriented towards the indenter (10) so that said material (2) is capable of bearing on said surface (6) point-by-point or quasi-point-by-point; said indenter is integral, i.e. the indenter comprises an indentation tip that is made as a single piece with the body of said indenter; the means for measuring the movement of the indenter (10) when the same is pressed into the material (2) includes at least three movement sensors (5) angularly arranged at an equal distance about said indenter (10).

La présente invention se rapporte notamment à un dispositif d'indentation dite "continue" ou "instrumentée" d'un matériau (2), qui comprend : - un indenteur (10); - des moyens de support (40; 6) du matériau (2) à indenter; - des moyens de déplacement de l'indenteur (10) et/ou des moyens de support (40; 6), pour mettre en contact ledit indenteur (10) avec ledit matériau (2), et l'enfoncer dans celui-ci; - des moyens de mesure (5) de l'effort et du déplacement de l'indenteur (10) au cours de son enfoncement dans le matériau (2), Ce dispositif se caractérise notamment par le fait que : - lesdits moyens de support (40; 6) comprennent, dans le prolongement de l'axe longitudinal (X-X) dudit indenteur (10), une surface convexe (6) de réception dudit matériau (2), orientée vers l'indenteur (10) de sorte que ledit matériau (2) est apte à reposer sur cette surface (6) de manière ponctuelle ou quasi-ponctuelle; - ledit indenteur est monobloc, c'est-à-dire qu'il comprend une pointe d'indentation qui est d'une pièce avec le corps dudit indenteur; - lesdits moyens de mesure du déplacement de l'indenteur (10) au cours de son enfoncement dans le matériau (2) comprennent au moins trois capteurs (5) de déplacement, disposés angulairement de manière équidistante autour dudit indenteur (10).
