The invention concerns a surgical instrument including: - an operational unit and a control unit able to be separated therefrom, the operational unit including a sheath having a proximal end and a distal end, a tool mounted at the distal end of the sheath, and a cable sliding inside the sheath connecting said tool to the control unit, and allowing the tool to be actuated when said cable is acted upon by means of the control unit, - the control unit including first and second coupling means for connecting, in a detachable manner, the control unit respectively to the proximal end of the sheath and the proximal end of the cable, the instrument being characterised in that the control unit includes first and second actuation means, and in that the first actuation means act simultaneously on the first and second coupling means to grasp or release said sheath and said cable whereas the second actuation means act only on the second coupling means to control the relative translation of the sheath and the cable.
