A system is disclosed for transporting solid particles having a size range from 1/10 micron to 22 mm. in diameter, including a feed hopper formed of an inverted cone frustum, a cylindrical tube, and an inverted cone, a source of solid particles contained in the feed hopper, a transport pipe inserted into the feed hopper coaxially with the axis of the feed hopper, fluid introducing pipes for introducing fluid such as air into the bottom of the feed hopper including a spout inlet feed pipe at the apex of the inverted cone and coaxially located opposite the transport pipe and forming an adjustable gap between the bottom of the transport pipe and the top of the spout inlet pipe, and at least one annulus feed pipe entering a side wall of the inverted cone, and computer controlled means to regulate the temperature, humidity and rate of flow of the introduced fluid. The solid particles are fluidized in the hopper and then fed into the transport pipe to be delivered where desired. In one preferred embodiment the solid particles obscure infrared radiation, and accordingly, a cloud of such particles vented outside a vehicle from inside a vehicle is effective to obscure the movement of such a vehicle from infrared ray detectors.

Cette invention concerne un système de transport de particules solides ayant un diamètre compris entre 1/10 micron et 22 mm et formé d'une trémie d'alimentation tronconique, d'un tube cylindrique, d'un cône inversé, l'évacuation des particules solides étant assurée par un tuyau de manutention dont l'axe coïncide avec celui de la trémie, de tubes d'injection d'air dans le bas de la trémie d'alimentation, notamment un tuyau d'injection pénétrant par le sommet du cône inversé et ayant son axe dans l'alignement de l'axe du tuyau de manutention ci-dessus, l'écart entre le bas de celui-ci et le haut du tuyau d'injection étant réglable, et au moins un tube d'injection par le côté du cône inversé. Le système comprend également des moyens commandés par ordinateur de régulation de la température, de l'humidité et du débit de l'air injecté. Puis, les particules solides ainsi fluidisées dans la trémie d'alimentation sont acheminés vers l'endroit voulu. Une variante privilégiée de l'invention sert à projeter dans l'atmosphère un nuage de particules solides servant à bloquer les rayons infrarouges et, ainsi, à soustraire un véhicule équipédu système à la détection infrarouge.
