The present invention provides a chemically modified human Growth Hormone (hGH) prepared by attaching a polyethylene glycol butyraldehyde moiety to the N-terminal phenylalanine of the protein. The chemically modified protein according to the present invention may have a much longer lasting hGH activity than that of the un-modified hGH, enabling reduced dose and scheduling opportunities. The present invention also includes methods of use for the treatment and/or prevention of diseases or disorders in which use of growth hormone is beneficial.

L'invention concerne une hormone de croissance humaine (hGH) chimiquement modifiée préparée en fixant une fraction de butyraldéhyde de polyéthylèneglycol à la phénylalanine N-terminale de la protéine. La protéine chimiquement modifiée selon l'invention peut présenter une activité de hGH beaucoup plus durable que dans le cas de la hGH non modifiée, ce qui permet de réduire la dose et de programmer les possibilités. L'invention concerne également des méthodes d'utilisation pour le traitement et/ou la prévention de maladies ou de troubles pour lesquels l'utilisation de l'hormone de croissance est bénéfique
