General purpose inherently tacky acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive polymers formed of alkyl acrylates, vinyl esters, diesters of dicarboxylic acid and saturated carbocyclic acids, having improved properties, a lower residual monomer content and a reduced polymerization time are formed by a sequential polymerization process in which 50 to 95 percent, typically 90 percent, of the monomers are incrementally added to a reactor as a first charge containing substantially all of the vinyl esters, preferably all of the diesters of dicarboxylic acid, the balance of the monomers being fed in a second incremental charge.

L'invention concerne des polymères adhésifs autocollants acryliques multi-usage constitués d'alkyl-acrylates, d'esters de vinyle, de diesters d'acide dicarboxylique et d'acides carboxyliques saturés présentant des propriétés améliorées, une faible teneur en monomères résiduels et un temps de polymérisation réduit. Ces polymères sont formés par un processus de polymérisation séquentiel au cours duquel 50 à 95 pour cent, en général 90 pour cent, des monomères sont ajoutés par additions successives dans un réacteur en tant que première charge renfermant sensiblement tous les esters de vinyle, de préférence tous les diesters d'acide dicarboxylique, le reste des monomères étant introduit par addition d'une seconde charge.
