A topical dermal delivery device, such as a patch, for topical delivery of nitric oxide (NO) to treatment sites of mammals is disclosed. In an embodiment the patch has three layers; a backing with an activation window, a absorbent core as a reservoir and an NO permeable membrane with an adhesive layer towards the skin. The NO donor is applied into the device as a solution prior to application through the activation window. The window is closed after activation and the lid and backing is non-permeable for NO in order to increase the partial pressure of NO and thus the concentration of dissolved NO. The patch is fixated on the area to be treated with an adhesive layer that also assures sufficient contact throughout the treatment. The generated NO moves within the patch and can escape through the NO permeable membrane towards the area to be treated. Depending on therapy needed, the patch release curve differs and is chosen accordingly.
L'invention concerne un dispositif d'administration dermique topique, tel qu'un timbre, pour l'administration topique d'oxyde nitrique (NO) à des sites de traitement de mammifères. Dans un mode de réalisation, le timbre possède trois couches : un support avec une fenêtre d'activation, une âme absorbante en tant que réservoir et une membrane perméable au NO avec une couche adhésive vers la peau. Le donneur de NO est appliqué dans le dispositif sous la forme d'une solution avant application à travers la fenêtre d'activation. La fenêtre est fermée après activation et les couvercles et support sont non perméables à NO afin d'augmenter la pression partielle de NO et ainsi la concentration du NO dissous. Le timbre est fixé sur la zone devant être traitée par une couche adhésive, laquelle assure également un contact suffisant pendant tout le traitement. Le NO généré se déplace à l'intérieur du timbre et peut s'échapper à travers la membrane perméable au NO vers la zone devant être traitée. En fonction de la thérapie nécessaire, la courbe de libération du timbre diffère et est choisie en conséquence.
