In a tool for cutting tape it is known to have some sort of securing surface and a edge for cutting tape as it is pulled over it. In this invention there is a single piece of stamped steel or cast plastic made in a box shape with an open area at its bottom to allow the invention to be placed over a roll of adhesive or non adhesive tape.The invention will allow tape to be pulled off the roll and severed on one of the cutting edges on either side but does not secure the tape to itself in any fashion.
