A method for reservation and interlocking in connection with the operation of an electric switching device (SDA 1) which is included in one of several bays belonging to a switch- gear. The control between the bays is performed by means of a communication bus with a computerized serial system with one computer in each bay. Operation of the switching device is allowed to take place only after a number of within-the- bay and external status checks.
