Disclosed is a child's amusement device comprising a portable planar sheet having an upper surface, said upper surface displaying a two-dimensional image defining a play area sub-divided into zones of different character large enough to permit a child to move around therein. Each zone depicts objects normally associated with the particular zone, and the image displays docking regions on said objects. The device also includes a plurality of flat pieces representative of items normally associated with said objects, said flat pieces being sized to dock with said docking regions on said objects so that in play a child can enter said zones and mate said flat pieces with the appropriate docking regions on said objects. The image may define a two- dimensional building, and said zones represent different rooms within said building. The objects may represent items of furniture or appliances normally associated with said rooms, and said docking regions represent items normally placed on said furniture or appliances.
