A process uses for intensity standardisation purposes the -/+ division but forms the quotients from the signal difference and does not form the signal sum from the intensity signals (L1, L2) generated by the sensor but from signals (L1', L2') derived therefrom which have periodically oscillating intensity components (I1'AC, I2'AC) of the same amplitude (/A/). The invention largely combines the advantages of the -/+ divison and of the AC/DC division.
