A wide-angle line generating lens constructed by bi-index rod lens that comprise a light transparent outer cylindrical lens inside the outer cylindrical lens integrates a least one inner rod lens parallel in orientation. Inner rod lens provides extra boundary surface for reflection and refraction which further diverse the propagation of an incident light compare with that of conventional simple cylindrical rod lens and therefore a wide-angle projection line is formed. A wide-angle line generator projects line images on opposite walls of a house indicating a cross sectional reference line. Geometric shape, position, and optical characteristics of inner rod lens are adopted to arrange the projection angle and the light distribution is the main feature of present invention.
