A shaped flexible infusion sleeve (7) provides for delivery of an infusion fluid (8) to the tip of a vibrating needle (2) used in a phacoemulsification procedure for removing cataracts. The shaped flexible infusion sleeve (7) has a non-circular cross-sectional shape which allows deformation, yet prevents collapse of the sleeve (7) onto the vibrating needle (2) so as to avoid undesired heating during surgery. The shaped flexible infusion sleeve (7) has at least two constriction points (14a-14d) which add sufficient structural stiffness to prevent full collapse of the sleeve (7) once inserted into an incision (15) in the eye, while at the same time providing sufficient flexibility to enhance sealing of the incision (15).
Gaine de perfusion (7) souple présentant une forme appropriée et permettant d'effectuer l'apport d'un liquide de perfusion (8) à la pointe d'une aiguille vibrante (2) utilisée dans une opération de phaco-émulsification servant à enlever des cataractes. Cette gaine (7) possède une section transversale de forme non circulaire permettant sa déformation, tout en empêchant son affaissement sur l'aiguille vibrante (2), de manière à éviter tout réchauffement indésirable pendant l'intervention chirurgicale. Cette gaine (7) comporte au moins deux points de constriction (14a)-(14d) ajoutant une rigidité suffisante à sa structure pour éviter l'affaissement total de la gaine (7) une fois qu'elle est insérée dans une incision (15) pratiquée dans l'oeil, tout en conférant simultanément une souplesse suffisante à cette structure pour empêcher l'obturation de l'incision (15).
