A transmission system having a housing, first and second shafts extending through walls of the housing, first and second ring assemblies attached respectively to the first and second shafts, each of the ring assemblies having a contacting element with a contacting surface, and a ring comprised of a plurality of motion transfer members mounted intermediate the contacting surfaces of the contacting elements such that rotational movement of the first shaft will translate into a motion of the motion transfer members and the second ring assembly to the second shaft. The arrangement provides for a mechanical transmission system reducing wear on the friction surfaces and which is relatively simple in design and economical to produce. -14-
