DENTAL X-RAY FILM HOLDING TAB AND ALIGNMENT METHOD ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A dental x-ray film holder (10) has a film packet (11) for holding x-ray film and is sized to fit adjacent one or more teeth in a patient's mouth. A bite tab (12) is attached to and extends from the film packet (11) for gripping between the teeth to hold the film packet (11) in place adjacent the teeth. An aligning system is provided on the bite tab (12) for aiming an x-ray tube (35) directly at the film packet (11) adjacent the teeth (33, 34) and includes an opening in the bite tab (12) for properly positioning the film packet (11) adjacent a tooth. At least two aiming lines (14, 15, 16, 17) extend across one side of the bite tab (12) and film packet (11) and a center of film indication (19) is on the bite tab (12). A method of aligning an x-ray tube (35) for x- raying a patient's teeth (33, 34) includes making the x- ray film holder having the film packet (11) holding the x-ray film with a bite tab (12) having aiming lines (14, 15, 16, 17) and a center of film line (19) thereon, the aligning of the x-ray tube (35) with the lines (14, 15, 19) on the bite tab, and x raying a patient's teeth with the x-ray tube aligned on the bite tab (12). The method includes the step of making the bite tab (12) with an opening (13) therethrough and through at least one aiming line (14, 15) positioning on a patient's teeth.
