In a wireless communication system (32) a method for high data rate transmission aggregates information signals processed by at least two modems (38, 40, 42), wherein the modulated information signals are transmitted using two carrier frequencies. The method provides multiple data transmissions concurrently over a broad bandwidth consistent with single transmission air- interface standards. An apparatus, mobile unit (34), includes a multi-link (ML) protocol processor (36) that aggregates the information signals from the modems modems (38, 40, 42) into a point-to-point protocol (PPP) format for interface with conventional data-based systems, such as the internet. The ML processor (36) further receives an aggregate bundle and separates the bundle into its constituent parts for modulation by the modems (38, 40, 42).
Dans un système de communication sans fil (32), un procédé de transmission de données en débit élevé permet de regrouper des signaux d'information traités par au moins deux modems (38, 40, 42), ces signaux d'information modulés étant transmis au moyen de deux fréquences de porteuse. Ce procédé permet d'effectuer des transmissions de données multiples simultanément sur une largeur de bande large conformément aux normes d'interface aérienne de transmission unique. Un dispositif, tel qu'une unité mobile (34), comprend un processeur (36) de protocole de liaison multiple (ML) rassemblant les signaux d'information depuis les modems (38, 40, 42) en un format de protocole point-à-point (PPP) afin de créer une interface avec les systèmes classiques basés sur des données, tels qu'Internet. Ce processeur (36) reçoit également un faisceau regroupé et sépare ce faisceau en ses différentes composantes devant être modulées par les modems (38, 40, 42).
