ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The suction-type clamp consists essentially of three parts, i.e. a diaphragm, a pressure ring and a cover. At the centre of the diaphragm there is a pin which joins the cover to the diaphragm in the manner of a press-stud and permits the cover to rotate in relation to the diaphragm. Between the cover and the diaphragm there is a pressure ring which is secured to be integral in rotation with the diaphragm by cams fitted to the latter. The upper edge of the pressure ring has ramps up which cams on the underside of the cover run when the cover is rotated. Thus the cover is raised in relation to the diaphragm and takes the pin fitted at the centre of the diaphragm with it. This produces the desired suction effect.
