Use of a botulinum toxin for making a medicament for treating obsessions and compulsions by local administration of a Clostridial toxin. The obsessions or compulsions can be, for example, trichotillomania, repetitive hand washing, compulsive body rocking, dermatillomania, eye poking, body rocking, finger biting, counting, checking and related disorders treated by low dose, intramuscular administration of a botulinum toxin.

Cette invention concerne l'utilisation d'une toxine botulique pour fabriquer un médicament servant au traitement d'obsessions et de compulsions par administration locale d'une toxine de Clostridium. Parmi les obsessions ou compulsions figurent notamment la trichotillomanie, le lavage des mains répétitif, le balancement du corps compulsif, la dermatillomanie, le frappement des yeux, le balancement du corps, la morsure des doigts, le comptage, la vérification et les troubles associés traités au moyen de l'administration intramusculaire à faible dose d'une toxine botulique.
