A device for performing therapeutic or diagnostic procedures within the cerebrovasculature includes a catheter having a distal portion, a proximal portion and a lumen extending therebetween, the catheter including an expandable region for engaging the vessel wall, thrombus, atheroma, or other structures. The device further includes an elongate stretching member, which can be a guidewire, insertable longitudinally through the lumen of the catheter, the elongate stretching member being configured for stretching at least a portion of the catheter and causing the expandable region to transition from an expanded state to a collapsed state, and wherein the elongate stretching member is retracted proximally relative to the catheter causes the expandable region to transition from the radially collapsed state to a radially, or laterally expanded state.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de réalisation de procédures diagnostiques ou thérapeutiques dans le système cérébrovasculaire qui comprend un cathéter ayant une partie distale, une partie proximale et une lumière sétendant entre celles-ci, le cathéter comprenant une région expansible destinée à se mettre en prise avec la paroi vasculaire, le thrombus, lathérome, ou autres structures. Le dispositif comprend en outre un élément détirement allongé, qui peut être un fil-guide, pouvant être inséré longitudinalement dans la lumière du cathéter, lélément détirement allongé étant configuré pour étirer au moins une partie du cathéter et pour faire passer la région expansible dun état déployé à un état replié, et la rétraction proximale de lélément détirement allongé par rapport au cathéter entraînant le passage de la région expansible de létat radialement replié, à un état radialement ou latéralement déployé.
