A method for acquiring a spotbeam beacon frequency is disclosed. The method comprises a fast synchronization procedure wherein the beacon frequency of the spotbeam is first acquired using a carrier acquisition process. A coarse time acquisition procedure is then performed on the acquired beacon frequency followed by a performance of a fine time and frequency acquisition process. The entire process enables spotbeam beacon acquisition in a range of approximately 2.7-27 seconds.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour acquérir des fréquences de radiobalises à faisceaux étroits . Ce procédé comprend une procédure de synchronisation rapide dans laquelle la fréquence de radiobalises du faisceau étroit est d'abord acquise à l'aide d'un processus d'acquisition de porteuses. Une procédure d'acquisition d'intervalles de temps approximatifs est ensuite mise en oeuvre sur la fréquence de radiobalise acquise puis est suivie d'une procédure d'acquisition de fréquences et d'intervalles de temps précis. La totalité du procédé permet d'acquérir des radiobalises à faisceaux étroits dans une plage de 2,7 à 27 secondes.
