A method and apparatus for achieving optimum noise control of multiple coronode wires in a copier/printer involves optimizing phase relationships of the voltage on the wires in such a way so as to steer the maximum part of the noise distribution profile in the direction best suited for absorption or dissipation. In a two corotron charging system, the coronodes are preferably charged to where the phase angle, charge frequency and spacing between wires are optimized.

Une méthode et son appareil pour réaliser un contrôle optimal du bruit dans les conducteurs coronode multiple d'un copieur/imprimante, qui fait intervenir l'optimisation des relations de phase de la tension dans les conducteurs afin d'entraîner la partie maximale du profil de distribution du bruit dans la direction qui produit la meilleure absorption ou dissipation. Dans un système de charge à deux corotrons, les coronodes sont de préférence chargées au moment où le déphasage, la fréquence de charge et la distance entre les conducteurs sont optimisés.
