A method of inhibiting erosion of an interior surface of a process vessel by solid objects carried in a fluid passing over the interior surface includes providing at least one formation at or in close proximity to the interior surface to interfere with the flow of the fluid over the interior surface, and to interfere with the movement of the solid objects by the fluid. The invention extends to a process vessel (10) which includes a body (16) defining an interior vessel surface (20), a catalyst bed (12) in the body (16), retaining means (22) on the catalyst bed for retaining the catalyst bed in position, and at least one formation (26) at or in close proximity to the interior vessel surface above the retaining means for interfering with fluid flow above the retaining means.
L'invention concerne un procédé qui empêche l'érosion d'une surface intérieure d'une cuve de traitement par des objets solides acheminés par un liquide s'écoulant sur cette surface intérieure. Le procédé consiste à créer au moins une formation au niveau ou à proximité immédiate de la surface intérieure afin dagir, d'une part sur l'écoulement du liquide sur ladite surface, d'autre part sur le mouvement des objets solides acheminés par le liquide. Le procédé de l'invention se rapporte à une cuve de traitement (10) qui comprend un corps (16) délimitant une surface intérieure (20) de la cuve, un support catalytique (12) placé dans le corps (16), un moyen de retenue (22) disposé sur le support catalytique (12) pour maintenir ce dernier en place, et au moins une formation (26) au niveau ou à proximité immédiate de la surface intérieure de la cuve au-dessus du moyen de retenue pour agir sur l'écoulement du liquide au-dessus dudit moyen de retenue.
