An ink jet recording medium having an ink receiving layer formed on a substrate, wherein an ink fixing agent contained in the ink receiving layer is a serpentine compound containing at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Mg and Zn, and an ink fixing agent which comprises a serpentine compound containing at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Mg and Zn and is used in the ink jet recording medium. According to the present invention, an ink jet recording medium having excellent ink absorptivity (color development, resolution) and excellent water resistance and light resistance for an image recorded on the medium can be provided by using a serpentine compound as an ink fixing agent. That is, according to the present invention, there can be provided an ink jet recording medium which is best suited for recording with a water/oil ink, can record a high-definition image at a high reproducibility and has excellent keeping properties, especially water resistance and light resistance.

L'invention concerne un support d'impression pour jet d'encre comprenant un matériau de base stratifié avec une couche réceptrice d'encre et caractérisé en ce que la couche réceptrice d'encre renferme un fixateur d'encre sous la forme d'un composé serpentin comprenant au moins un métal sélectionné dans le groupe composé de Mg et Zn. L'invention concerne également un fixateur d'encre comprenant un composé serpentin renfermant au moins un métal sélectionné dans le groupe composé de Mg et Zn et utilisé dans le support d'impression pour jet d'encre. L'utilisation du composé serpentin comme fixateur d'encre permet d'obtenir un support d'impression pour jet d'encre possédant une excellente absorption d'encre (formation de couleur et pouvoir séparateur) et des excellentes résistances à l'eau et à la lumière des images imprimées sur le support. Par conséquent, le support d'impression pour jet d'encre selon l'invention présente un excellent pouvoir d'impression d'encre à base d'eau/huile, permet d'imprimer des images très précises avec une reproductibilité élevée et possède une excellente aptitude au stockage, notamment une résistance à l'eau et à la lumière.
