A carrier for mounting on a trailer hitch on a vehicle includes a lower base member, adapted to be removably mounted to the trailer hitch. At least two elongate substantially parallel members having their lower ends pivotally mounted to the lower base member; upper ends are pivotally mounted to an upper supporting member, the longitudinal axes of the elongate upright members remain parallel to one another for maintaining the upper supporting member horizontal in both an upright carrying position and a lowered loading and unloading position. This allows bicycles being carried to remain upright at all times.
