The present invention provides 2,3,4,4a,5,9b-hexahydro-1H-pyrido(4,3-b)indoles and 2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-pyrido(4,3-b)-indoles of formula (I), wherein R1 to R7 are as defined as herein. These compounds are 5-HT ligands that are useful for treating diseases wherein modulation of 5-HT activity is desired.
