A press section of a paper making machine may include at least a first and a second nip press, positioned at a same level with respect to a horizontal reference, in which a paper sheet is guided therethrough. At least one of the nip presses may be oriented such that a lined formed between the center of each roll of the at least one nip press is at an angle (or inclined) with respect to a vertical reference, e.g., perpendicular to the ground or a press section base. This particular arrangement enables guidance of the paper sheet between the nip presses with no more than one deflection.
