An asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network and method for concurrently transmitting information from multiple end users. The ATM network includes multiple end users for communicating information between the end users, multiple virtual path identifiers (VPIs) or virtual path identifier/virtual circuit identifiers (VPI/VCIs) are assigned to each of the end users and ATM cells to be transferred between the end user for identifying which of the end users transmitted the ATM cells -so that the end users can concurrently receive information transmitted from multiple end users.
