The application discloses non-naturally occurring barley plants with increased resistance to herbicides, particularly imidazolinone herbicides. Also disclosed arc the barley seeds per se, an isolated nucleic acid incorporating the nucleic acid se-quence conferring imidazolinone resistance, a method of inhibiting weed growth in the vicinity of a barley plant, an a method of growing a barley crop. Seeds have been deposited at NCIMB.

L'invention concerne des plants d'orge d'origine non naturelle présentant une résistance accrue aux herbicides, en particulier aux herbicides à l'imidazolinone. L'invention porte également sur les semences d'orge en tant que telles, sur un acide nucléique isolé comprenant la séquence d'acide nucléique conférant une résistance à l'imidazolinone, sur un procédé d'inhibition de la croissance de mauvaises herbes au voisinage d'un plant d'orge, et sur un procédé de culture d'orge.
