An aerated treatment of water is performed using a serially coupled reactor and flotation tank and is performed using so much activated sludge in the water that small bubbles from an aerator are entrained in the activated sludge, leading some of or all the activated sludge to flotate in the flotation tank. A reactor (1) and a flotation tank (36) for performing the process are equipped with at least one aerator (19, 20, 21, 22). A number of preferred processes and designs elaborate on the invention, including how the invention may be incorporated into existing wastewater treatment facilities and exploited there.

L'invention concerne un traitement aéré d'eaux usées effectué par utilisation d'un réacteur et d'un réservoir de flottation couplés en série, et par utilisation d'une boue activée dans l'eau de sorte que les petites bulles provenant d'un aérateur sont entraînées dans la boue activée, ce qui amène une partie ou la totalité de ladite boue activée à flotter dans le réservoir de flottation. Un réacteur (1) et un réservoir de flottation (36) permettant d'exécuter le processus sont équipés d'au moins un aérateur (19, 20, 21, 22). Un certain nombre de processus et de conceptions préférés élaborés dans cette invention permettent notamment l'utilisation de cette invention dans des installations de traitement d'eaux usées existantes et leur exploitation.
