A modular device for collecting thermal solar energy having multiple openings defined therein for interconnection with other modules to provide a two or three dimensional solar panel array of modules, and to receive thereon a solar collection lens. In such manner, the modular devices can be interconnected in various configurations, in both a horizontal and vertical manner, so as to accommodate spacing or arrangement limitations imposed at the site of placement. The solar collection lens portion which is inserted in each modular device for collecting thermal solar energy has convex upper and lower surfaces, and will not collapse when a vacuum environment is created therein.
