A radiopaque composition for use in visualizing and cleaning root canal system anatomy, pathologies, anomalies, and iatrogenic conditions. The composition comprises a radiopaque iodine solution and a sodium hypochlorite solution. The iodine solution comprises diatrizoate maglumine and sodium iodine. The iodine solution and sodium hypochlorite solution are mixed in a ratio of between 5:95 to 95:5, by volume. Preferably, the iodine solution and sodium hypochlorite solution are mixed in a ratio of between 30:70 to 70:30, by volume. And more preferably, the iodine solution and sodium hypochlorite solution are mixed in a ratio of between 45:55 to 55:45, by volume. In use, the root canal system anatomy, anomaly, pathology, or iatrogenic condition to be visualized and addressed or treated is liberally flushed with the composition, preferably after the root canal system has been exposed. The sodium hypochlorite in the composition will digest pulp in the canal system and destroy and remove any organisms and irritants residing in or on the anatomy, anomaly or pathology. The iodine in the solution will enable a dentist to take a high contrast X-ray to visualize the anatomy, anomaly, pathology, or iatrogenic event in three- dimensions. The solution is particularly effective for visualizing root canal systems.
La composition opaque aux rayons X décrite permet de visualiser et nettoyer le canal radiculaire, et les zones présentant des pathologies, des anomalies et des états iatrogènes. La composition est constituée d'une solution d'iode opaque aux rayons X et d'une solution d'hyprochlorite de sodium. La solution d'iode comprend du diatrizoate de méglumine et de l'iodure de sodium. La solution d'iode et la solution d'hypochlorite de sodium sont mélangées dans un rapport entre 5:95 et 95:5, en volume. De préférence, la solution d'iode et la solution d'hypochlorite de sodium sont mélangées dans un rapport entre 45:55 et 55:45, en volume. Lors de l'application, le canal radiculaire ou la zone présentant une pathologie, une anomalie ou un état iatrogène à visualiser, à traiter ou bien auxquels il faut accéder, sont abondamment irrigués avec la composition, de préférence après l'exposition du canal radiculaire. L'hypochlorite de sodium dans la composition digère la pulpe dans le système du canal et détruit, puis élimine tous les organismes et résidus irritants, présents dans ou sur l'anatomie ou la zone présentant l'anomalie ou la pathologie. L'iode dans la solution va permettre au dentiste de réaliser une radiographie fortement contrastée pour visualiser en trois dimensions l'anatomie ou la zone présentant l'anomalie, la pathologie ou le trouble iatrogène. La solution est particulièrement efficace lors de la visualisation de systèmes de canaux radiculaires.
