A method and an apparatus are specified for connecting optical waveguides, comprising determination of the eccentricity of the core with respect to the cladding. In a first step of the method, the optical waveguides (11, 12) are heated for a limited time interval, whereby the cores of the glass fibers are stimulated to emit visible light. The position of the cores is determined from the measurement of an intensity distribution of the emitted light. In a second step, lighting (41, 42) is switched on in order to illuminate the optical waveguides (11, 12). The position of the cladding can be determined from the measurement of the intensity distribution of the light passing through the optical waveguides (11, 12). The eccentricity can be determined from a combination of the two measurements. After determination of the eccentricity, the two optical waveguides are aligned with one another for connection.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif pour connecter des guides d'ondes optiques, le procédé comprenant la détermination de l'excentricité du noyau par rapport à la gaine. Dans une première étape du procédé, les guides d'ondes optiques (11, 12) sont chauffés pendant un intervalle de temps limité, ce qui excite les noyaux des fibres optiques de manière à émettre de la lumière visible. La position du noyau est déterminée à partir de la mesure d'une distribution d'intensité de la lumière émise. Dans une seconde étape, un système d'éclairage (41, 42) est allumé afin d'éclairer les guides d'ondes optiques (11, 12). La position des gaines peut être déterminée à partir de la mesure de la distribution d'intensité de la lumière qui traverse les guides d'ondes optiques (11, 12). L'excentricité peut être déterminée à partir d'une combinaison des deux mesures. Une fois l'excentricité déterminée, les deux guides d'ondes optiques sont alignés l'un par rapport à l'autre afin d'être connectés.
