The invention relates to an intervertebral disc prosthesis comprising at least two plates (1, 2), namely first (1) and second (2) plates, articulated about each other by means of a curved surface (11, 31), namely articulation, of at least one of the plates, each of the plates (1, 2) comprising a surface (14, 24) known as a contact surface, intended to be in contact with a vertebral plate of one of the vertebrae between which the prosthesis is intended to be inserted, this contact surface for each of the plates comprising a geometrical centre (G1, G2) at equal distance from at least two diametrically opposite points located on the periphery of the plate (1, 2), characterised in that the geometric centres (G1, G2) of the plates (1, 2) are not vertically aligned, this off-setting (D) of the geometrical centres (G1, G2) of the plates engendering an off-setting of the edges of the plates (1, 2) in at least one direction perpendicular to the vertical axis of the spinal column.
La présente invention se rapporte à une prothèse de disque intervertébral, qui comprend au moins deux plaques (1, 2), soit des première (1) et seconde (2) plaques, articulées l'une à l'autre par l'intermédiaire d'une surface incurvée (11, 31), soit une articulation, d'au moins l'une des plaques. Chacune des plaques (1, 2) comportant une surface (14, 24) dénommée surface de contact, qui est destinée à être en contact avec une plaque vertébrale d'au moins l'une des vertèbres entre lesquelles la prothèse doit être introduite. Ladite surface de contact de chacune des plaques possède un centre géométrique (G1, G2), situé à équidistance d'au moins deux points diamétralement opposés situés sur le pourtour de la plaque (1, 2), les centres géométriques (G1, G2) des plaques (1, 2) étant caractérisés en ce qu'ils ne sont pas alignés verticalement. Ledit décalage (D) des centres géométriques (G1, G2) des plaques entraîne un décalage des bords des plaques (1, 2) dans au moins un sens perpendiculaire à l'axe vertical de la colonne vertébrale.
