Single stranded DNA fragments in sizes above 300 bases are separated electrophoretically in a field inversion technique in which the voltage of the reverse pulse exceeds that of the forward pulse, the duration of the forward pulse exceeds that of the reverse pulse, and the product of voltage and duration for the forward pulse exceeds that of the reverse pulse. The result is an improvement in resolution over previous field inversion techniques, and the elimination of band inversion.

Des fragments d'ADN à simple brin qui contiennent plus de 300 bases sont séparés par électrophorèse grâce à une technique d'inversion des champs électriques, suivant laquelle la tension de l'impulsion inverse dépasse celle de l'impulsion dans le sens direct, la durée de l'impulsion dans le sens direct dépasse celle de l'impulsion inverse et le produit de la tension et de la durée de l'impulsion dans le sens direct dépasse celui obtenu pour l'impulsion inverse. Il en résulte une amélioration de la résolution par rapport aux techniques antérieures d'inversion des champs, et l'élimination de l'inversion des bandes.
