This invention is a device (10) for controlling urinary incontinence in a female patient, including a shaft (12) having a length sufficient to transit the length of a female patient's urethra, a flange (16) externally extending from the shaft (12) proximate the proximal end of the shaft (12), effective for securing the shaft (12) in position within a female patient's urethra when the flange (16) is positioned between a female patient's labia minora and vestibular floor. The distal end portion of the shaft (12) is straight and free of any retention element having, or expandable to have, a diameter effective for seal engaging the urethra.
Cette invention se rapporte à un dispositif (10) permettant de maîtriser l'incontinence urinaire chez un patient du sexe féminin. Ledit dispositif comporte une tige (12) ayant une longueur suffisante pour passer le long de l'urètre d'une patiente, une collerette (16) faisant saillie vers l'extérieur à partir de la tige (12), à proximité de l'extrémité proximale de ladite tige (12) et servant à immobiliser la tige (12) en place à l'intérieur de l'urètre d'une patiente lorsque ladite collerette (16) est positionnée entre les petites lèvres de la patiente et la partie inférieure du vestibule. L'extrémité distale de la tige (12) est droite et ne comporte pas d'élément de rétention doté de, ou susceptible d'acquérir en se dilatant, un diamètre suffisant pour entrer en contact avec l'urètre et obturer celui-ci.
