The present invention relates to LC packing materials in general, and silica- based HPLC packing materials in particular. Methods of forming and using the packing materials are also disclosed. The HPLC packing materials of the present invention feature high surface area and high porosity with good mechanical strength, due in part to the inclusion of a surfactant in the preparation of the LC packing materials. These desirable attributes are due, in part, to the narrow range of pore diameters that are generated in the preparation of the packing material.

La présente invention concerne, d'une façon générale, des matériaux d'emballage pour chromatographie liquide (LC) et plus particulièrement des matériaux d'emballage pour chromatographie liquide de haute performance (HPLC). Ces matériaux d'emballage HPLC présentent une zone de grande surface et une porosité élevée avec une bonne résistance mécanique, due en partie à l'inclusion d'un tensioactif dans la préparation de ces matériaux d'emballage LC. Ces qualités souhaitables sont dues, en partie, à la plage étroite du diamètre des pores qui sont générés dans la préparation de ce matériau d'emballage.
