A superconducting cable (1) having at least one phase is described, which comprises: a) a layer (20) of tapes comprising superconducting material; b) a tubular element (6) for supporting said layer (20) of tapes comprising superconducting material, said tubular element comprising at least one portion made of metallic material, and being in electrical contact with the layer (20) of tapes comprising superconducting material; c) a cooling circuit adapted to cool the superconducting material to a working temperature non higher than its critical temperature, comprising a fluid at a predetermined working pressure ranging between a minimum value and a maximum value; wherein the deformation of said tapes comprising superconducting material, consequent to a temperature variation between the room temperature and the working temperature of the cable is lower to the critical deformation of the same tapes, characterized in that a predetermined amount of conductive material of resistive type in electrical contact with the layer (20) of superconducting material is present, such that the maximum temperature reached by the superconducting material in case of short circuit is lower than the minimum temperature between the critical temperature of the superconducting material and the boiling temperature of said cooling fluid at the minimum working pressure of said fluid.

L'invention concerne un câble supraconducteur (1) à une phase au moins comprenant : a) une couche (20) constituées de bandes comprenant un matériau supraconducteur ; b) un élément tubulaire (6) destiné au support de cette couche (20) de bandes comprenant le matériau supraconducteur, ledit élément tubulaire comprenant au moins une partie constituée d'un matériau métallique et étant en contact électrique avec la couche (20) de bandes comprenant le matériau supraconducteur ; c) un circuit de refroidissement conçu pour refroidir le matériau supraconducteur à une température de travail inférieure à sa température critique, lequel circuit comprend un fluide à une pression de travail prédéterminée comprise entre une valeur minimum et une valeur maximum. La déformation des bandes comprenant le matériau supraconducteur, à la suite d'un changement de température entre la température ambiante et la température de travail du câble, est inférieure à la déformation critique desdites bandes. Le câble est caractérisé en ce qu'une quantité prédéterminée de matériau conducteur de type résistant est au contact électrique de la couche (20) de matériau supraconducteur, de manière que la température maximum atteinte par le matériau supraconducteur en cas de court-circuit est inférieure à l'écart de température minimum entre la température critique du matériau supraconducteur et la température d'ébullition du fluide de refroidissement à la pression de travail minimum dudit fluide.
