An improved multifocal design for an ocular implant is provided This ocular implant can include an accommodating intraocular lens (IOL) and a number of haptics The accommodating IOL includes a liquid suspended between two optically transparent plates or membranes to form a pressure lens that passes optical energy The haptics mechanically couple to the IOL in order to position and secure the IOL within the eye The IOL achieves accommodation by using the eye's ciliary muscles to vary the surface curvature of the liquid The liquid may have a high surface tension and be surrounded by phobic liquid Pressure from the ciliary muscles causes fluid to be added from or withdrawn to a reservoir Increasing/decreasing the internal pressure of the liquid changes the angle (curvature) of the surface thus changing the optical properties of the lens When the pressure is released the liquid returns to the reservoir
La présente invention concerne un modèle multifocal amélioré d'implant oculaire. Cet implant oculaire peut comporter une lentille intraoculaire (IOL) accommodative et un certain nombre d'interfaces haptiques. L'IOL accommodative comprend un liquide suspendu entre deux lames ou membranes optiquement transparentes, ce qui forme une lentille sous pression capable de transmettre l'énergie optique. Les interfaces haptiques sont mécaniquement couplées à l'IOL afin de positionner et d'immobiliser l'IOL dans l'il. L'IOL accommode en faisant appel aux muscles ciliaires de l'il pour faire varier la courbure superficielle du liquide. Le liquide peut présenter une tension superficielle élevée et être entouré d'un liquide phobique. La pression exercée par les muscles ciliaires fait que du liquide est ajouté dans un réservoir ou retiré de celui-ci avec pour conséquence une augmentation/baisse de la pression interne du liquide qui modifie l'angle (courbure) de la surface, ce qui modifie les propriétés optiques de la lentille. Lorsque la pression est relâchée, le liquide retourne dans le réservoir.
