The invention provides a medical device and method to reduce the occurrence of pseudophakic pupillary block following implantation of an intraocular lens. The device includes an intraocular lens configured with channels traversing through the surfaces of the lens optic. The invention includes special edge angulations and locations in the optic zone that eliminate optical distortion from channels. The channels perform as valves configured to allow flow of a patient's aqueous humor from one surface of the lens through to the other surface of the lens, thereby preventing fluid pressure from building up in a patient's eye.
Cette invention concerne un dispositif médical et un procédé permettant de réduire l'apparition d'un bloc pupillaire pseudophaque après l'implantation d'une lentille intraocculaire. Le dispositif susmentionné comprend une lentille intraocculaire qi présente des canaux traversant les surfaces de l'optique de la lentille. Le dispositif décrit dans cette invention comprend des angulations et des positions périphériques spéciales dans la zone d'optique qui permettent de supprimer la distorsion optique des canaux. Les canaux agissent comme des valves qui permettent l'écoulement de l'humeur aqueuse du patient depuis une surface de la lentille et jusqu'à l'autre surface de cette lentille, empêchant ainsi l'augmentation de la pression du fluide dans l'oeil d'un patient.
