An electro-optic device comprising a substrate (2, 3, 4) and an integrated optical waveguide (1) extending across the substrate (2, 3, 4), two doped regions (14, 15) being provided so that an electrical signal can be applied across the doped regions (14, 15), to alter the density of charge carriers within the waveguide (1), the doped regions (14, 15) each comprising a plurality of doped areas (14A, 14B, 14C, 14D; 15A, 15B, 15C, 15D) spaced apart from each other along the length of the wageguide (1) to improve the performance of the device by reducing the level of current between each pair (14A, 15A etc.) of doped regions.

L'invention concerne un dispositif électro-optique comprenant un substrat (2, 3, 4) et un guide d'onde optique (1) intégré, s'étendant selon le travers du substrat (2, 3, 4), deux régions dopées (14, 15), permettant l'application d'un signal électrique à travers ces deux régions dopées (14, 15), destiné à changer la densité de porteurs de charges à l'intérieur du guide d'onde (1), ces régions (14, 15) comprenant chacune plusieurs zones dopées (14A, 14B, 14C, 14D; 15A, 15B, 15C, 15D) espacées les unes des autres le long du guide d'ondes (1) afin d'améliorer la performance du dispositif par réduction du niveau de courant entre chaque paire (14A, 15A etc.) de régions dopées.
