An injection device for injection of a medicament cartridge (40) is disclosed. The injection device comprises a drive mechanism 42 including a motor (54) for selectively dispending the medicament from the medicament cartridge (40), an electronic control unit for controlling operation of the drive mechanism and a detector to detec slipping of the motor. Upon detection of slipping of the motor (54) the electronic control unit halts the drive mechanism (42).
