Using a combination of analytic methods epigenetic silencing of markers in cancer have been determined. The cancers are generally those of the gastrointestinal tract including but not limited to esophageal, head and neck, gastric, pancreas, liver, and colon. The genes can be used for the early detection of cancer or can be used to identify adenomas that will likely progress to carcinomas. Therapeutic regimens based on the epigenetic silenced genes can be chosen and/or monitored. Kits for evaluating epigenetic silencing of these genes can be used for detection and monitoring.
La présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'une combinaison de procédés analytiques permettant la mise au silence épigénétique de marqueurs dans le cas d'un cancer. Les cancers concernent d'une manière générale le tractus gastro-intestinal, y compris mais sans s'y limiter, l'AEsophage, la tête et le cou, l'estomac, le pancréas, le foie, et le côlon. Les gènes peuvent être utilisés pour la détection précoce d'un cancer ou ils peuvent être utilisés pour identifier un adénome susceptible d'évoluer en carcinome. Des régimes thérapeutiques basés sur les gènes mis au silence épigénétiquement peuvent être choisis et/ou faire l'objet d'un suivi. Des trousses permettant l'évaluation de la mise au silence épigénétique de ces gènes peuvent être utilisées pour la détection et le suivi.
