The invention is a tool to be struck (Fig. 1), or a striking tool, or a cap (Fig. 4, 6, 8), that will not suffer metal spall and the attendant dangers of spalling and flying or cutting metal slivers. The preferred mode is on a chisel. The chisel would have a striking end cut square to the shaft. Other tools such as jackhammers, wedges, spikes, hammers, mallets would benefit from the invention.

L'invention concerne un outil à percuter (voir figure 1), ou un outil de percussion, ou un embout (voir figures 4, 6, 8), conçu pour ne pas subir l'écaillage de métal et ne pas présenter les dangers associés aux éclats de métal volants ou coupants dus à l'écaillage. Le mode de réalisation préféré s'applique à un burin. Ledit burin présente une extrémité de percussion pour la coupe perpendiculaire à la tige. L'invention peut être utile pour d'autres outils tels que les marteaux perforateurs, les coins, les pointes, les marteaux, et les maillets.
