A node, and a system including a first node, supporting message transport and segmentation in a communications network having a plurality of nodes, comprising a memory including a database for storing a plurality of segmentation support capability test results, wherein the memory further includes a program module adapted to send a first segmented message, a first segmentation support test message, and a first segmentation support response message, and to receive a second segmentation message, a second segmentation support test message, and a second segmentation support response message. The system also includes a second node in electronic communication with the first node, wherein the second node is adapted to receive the segmented message and the segmentation support test message, and to send the segmentation support response message including the segmentation support capability result. A method supporting messsage transport and segmentation in a communications network having a plurality of nodes, comprising the steps of: sending a first segmentation support test message from a first node to a second node, the first and second nodes selected from the plurality of nodes, the first node comprising a memory including a database for storing a plurality of segmentation support capability test results; sending a first segmentation support response message from the second node to the first node in response to receiving the first segmentation support test message, generating a first segmentation support capability test result indicating that the second node is capable of receiving segmented messages; and sending a segmented message from the first node to the second node. If no response is received, a second segmentation support capability test result is generated to indicate that the second node is incapable of supporting segmented messages.
L'invention concerne un noeud, ainsi qu'un système comportant un premier noeud, qui permet de transporter et de segmenter des messages dans un réseau de communication comprenant une pluralité de noeuds. Le noeud comporte une mémoire qui contient une base de données, destinée à stocker une pluralité de résultats de tests d'aptitude à accepter la segmentation, et un module de programme, conçu pour envoyer un premier message segmenté, un premier message de test de compatibilité avec la segmentation et un premier message de réponse segmenté, et pour recevoir un second message segmenté, un second message de test de compatibilité avec la segmentation et un second message de réponse de compatibilité avec la segmentation. Le système comprend également un second noeud en communication électronique avec le premier, conçu pour recevoir le message segmenté et le message de compatibilité avec la segmentation et pour envoyer le message de réponse de compatibilité avec la segmentation renfermant ledit résultat de test d'aptitude à accepter la segmentation. L'invention concerne également un procédé qui permet le transport et la segmentation dans un réseau de communication comportant une pluralité de noeuds et qui comprend les étapes suivantes: un premier noeud envoie à un second noeud un premier message de test de compatibilité avec la segmentation, les deux noeuds étant choisis parmi une pluralité de noeuds, le premier noeud comportant une mémoire dotée d'une base de données destinée à stocker une pluralité de résultats de tests d'aptitude à accepter la segmentation; le second noeud envoie au premier noeud, en réponse à la réception du premier message de test d'aptitude à accepter la segmentation, un premier message de réponse de compatibilité avec la segmentation; il génère un premier résultat de test d'aptitude à accepter la segmentation indiquant qu'il est capable de recevoir des messages segmentés; et le premier noeud envoie un message segmenté au second noeud. Si aucune réponse n'est reçue, un second résultat de test d'aptitude à accepter la segmentation est généré, indiquant que le second noeud est incapable de traiter des messages segmentés.
