An ophthalmic implant for treatment of glaucoma includes a tube (32) and a flanged disk (34) connected to an outlet end (50) of the tube (32). The tube passage (38) is sized sufficiently small to inhibit the flow of aqueous humor through the tube passage (38) when the IOP is below a threshold amount. An inlet end of the tube has a beveled surface (40) and one of more circumferential holes (42). One or more outwardly extending retention projections (52) are provided for anchoring in the eyeball. The flanged disk has an outer rim and one or more inner uprights. The implant is implanted by use of a handle and a rodlike instrument (60), with a tip for insertion into the tube passage of the implant and a retention mechanism for retaining the implant.
Implant ophtalmique destiné au traitement du glaucome comportant un tube (32) et un disque à rebord (34) relié à une extrémité de sortie (50) du tube (32). L'intérieur (38) du tube est suffisamment étroit pour empêcher l'écoulement d'humeur aqueuse par l'intérieur (38) du tube lorsque la pression intraoculaire est inférieure à un certain seuil. L'extrémité d'entrée du tube comporte une surface biseautée (40) et un ou plusieurs orifices circonférentiels (42). Une ou plusieurs saillies de maintien (52) s'étendant vers l'extérieur permettent de fixer le dispositif dans le globe oculaire. Le disque à rebord comporte un rebord extérieur et un ou plusieurs montants intérieurs. L'implant est implanté au moyen d'une poignée et d'un instrument en forme de tige (60), muni d'un embout permettant l'insertion dans l'intérieur du tube de l'implant et d'un mécanisme de retenue pour retenir l'implant.
