A method and apparatus are provided for performing a medical procedure on a patient, for example a dermatological procedure, by use of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) having a relatively low peak power, and in particular a peak power low enough so as not to result in a phase change in the heater or chromophore absorbing radiation which would result in a significant reduction in its absorption, and of relatively long duration which is generally greater than, sometimes significantly greater than, the thermal relaxation time of the irradiated target.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil au traitement médical d'un patient, notamment un traitement dermatologique, faisant intervenir un rayonnement électromagnétique. Le pic de puissance de ce rayonnement est relativement bas, et notamment assez bas pour éviter un changement de phase affectant le rayonnement absorbant du radiateur ou du chromophore. On cherche ainsi à éviter tout amoindrissement notable de l'absorption. En outre, la durée de ce rayonnement électromagnétique est relativement longue, c'est-à-dire supérieure, parfois même très nettement, à la durée du relâchement thermique de la cible irradiée.
