There is provided a fishing rod holder suitable for use in ice or shore fishing or for fishing from a boat. The holder includes a cylindrical body having a fastener associated therewith for securing the rod at an angled setting. A spike is provided for driving and removing the holder from the ice or ground. A cap protects the body of the holder whilst it is being hammered into the ice or ground.
