A stored value card and system provides a stored value card issued in the name of a cardholder and with an account associated with an issuer and a legal account holder. The legal account holder is initially a person or entity other than the cardholder. The legal account holder manages the account and is authorized to add funds to the account and the cardholder is au-thorized to use the funds in the account. As the account is being used, and account data is changing, the account data is compared to a plurality of triggering criteria. When a predetermined number of the triggering criteria are satisfied, the nature of the account is changed and the cardholder becomes the legal account holder who then manages and owns the funds in the account.

Le titulaire de compte légal est au départ une personne physique ou morale autre que le titulaire de carte. Le titulaire de compte légal assure la gestion du compte et est autorisé à ajouter des fonds au compte, le titulaire de carte étant autorisé à utiliser les fonds du compte. À mesure que le compte est utilisé et que les informations le concernant changent, celles-ci sont comparées à une pluralité de critères de déclenchement. Lorsquun nombre prédéfini des critères de déclenchement sont remplis, la nature du compte change et le titulaire de carte devient le titulaire de compte légal et assure alors la gestion des fonds du compte qui dès lors lui appartiennent.
