A process for preparing a multiple layer coating on the surface of an organic polymeric substrate by means of atmospheric pressure glow discharge deposition, the steps of the process comprising depositing a layer (first layer) of a plasma polymerized, optically clear, organosilicon compound and thereafter in a second step depositing a substantially uniform layer (second layer) of a polymeric siloxane or silicon oxide compound onto the exposed surface of said first layer, wherein the multiple layer coating has a thickness of at least 2.0 ~m and an abrasion resistance demonstrating a change of 20 delta haze units or less after 500 Tabor cycles, measured according to ASTM D1044, CS10F wheels, 500 g weight.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un revêtement multicouches sur la surface d'un substrat polymère organique au moyen d'un dépôt par nitruration au plasma dans des conditions de pression atmosphérique. Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes: on dépose une couche (première couche) d'un composé organosilicié, optiquement transparent, polymérisé par plasma puis, on dépose ensuite dans une deuxième étape, une couche sensiblement uniforme (deuxième couche) d'un composé polymère de siloxane ou de dioxyde de silicium, sur la surface exposée de ladite première couche, ledit revêtement multicouches présentant une épaisseur au moins égale à 2,0 microns et une résistance à l'abrasion qui fait état d'un changement de 20 unités delta haze au maximum après 500 cycles Taber, mesuré conformément à la norme ASTM D1044, avec des roues CS10F, et une masse de 500 g.
