A rinse solution for the treatment of conversion-coated metal substrates for improving the adhesion and corrosion resistance of siccative coatings, comprising an aqueous solution of zirconium ion and an organosilane selected from the group consisting of 3-glycidoxypropyloxytrimethoxysilane, methyltrimethoxysilane, .gamma.- methacryloxytrimethoxysilane, phenylttimethoxysilane, and mixtures thereof, with the zirconium ion concentration selected to provide a pH about 2.0 to 9Ø A method for treating such materials by applying the rinse solution to the substrate.

Une solution de rinçage destinée au traitement de substrats métalliques revêtus par conversion et à améliorer l'adhérence et la résistance à la corrosion de revêtements siccatifs, comprend une solution aqueuse d'ions zirconium et un organosilane sélectionné dans le groupe consistant en 3-glycidoxypropyloxytriméthoxysilane, méthyltriméthoxysilane, gamma -méthacryloxytriméthoxysilane, phényltriméthoxysilane, et leurs mélanges, la concentration des ions zirconium étant choisie pour donner un pH allant d'environ 2 à 9. Un procédé permet de traiter ces matériaux par application de cette solution de rinçage sur le substrat.
