Cable, in particular fow low-voltage electrical energy distribution or for telecommunications, having low-smoke self-extinguishing properties comprising a conductor and a halogen-free flame-retardant coating wherein natural magnesium hydroxide is used as flame-retardant filler. This coating comprises (a) a crystalline propylene homopolymer or copolymer; (b) a copolymer of ethylene with at least one alpha-olefin having from 3 to 12 carbon atoms, and optionally with a diene, said copolymer (b) being characterized by a composition distribution index, defined as the weight percentage of copolymer molecules having an alpha-olefin content within 50 % of the average total molar content of alpha-olefin, greater than 45 %; (c) natural magnesium hydroxide.
L'invention concerne un câble autoextinguible à faible fumée, en particulier pour la distribution d'énergie électrique sous faible tension ou pour les télécommunications, qui comprend un conducteur et un revêtement retardateur de flamme dépourvu d'halogène dans lequel on utilise de l'hydroxyde de magnésium naturel comme matière de charge à effet retardateur de flamme. Le revêtement en question comprend (a) un homopolymère ou un copolymère de propylène cristallin; (b) un copolymère d'éthylène qui comporte au moins une alpha-oléfine ayant entre 3 et 12 atomes de carbone, et qui comporte éventuellement un diène; ledit copolymère (b) est caractérisé par un indice de distribution de composition supérieur à 45 %, cet indice étant défini comme le pourcentage pondéral des molécules de copolymère dont la teneur en alpha-oléfine est dans une marge de 50 % par rapport à la teneur molaire moyenne totale en alpha-oléfine; (c) de l'hydroxyde de magnésium naturel.
